Swiss Casinos, a land-based casino operator, is venturing into online gambling. The company has decided to partner with gambling software company Playtech, so the latter could develop its online casino.
According to a report by Top10CasinoWebsites, Swiss Casinos entered a deal with Playtech after the Swiss Federal Council confirmed that Switzerland’s new gambling laws will take effect in January 2019. The move is expected to open up the country’s online gambling market.
Swiss Casinos already owns several brick and mortar casinos located in Zürich, Schaffhausen, Pfäffikon, and St. Gallen. Thus, it is not surprising why the company is among the operators who quickly lined up to venture into the new online gambling market.
Swiss Casinos has reportedly applied for an online gaming license. The company is quite confident that its application will be approved by the authorities. As such, it has chosen Playtech because it believes that the software provider would be able to come up with a seamless online gambling platform.
“We are extremely excited to have found an internationally experienced and innovative partner in Playtech. We will now be able to offer our customers in Switzerland an attractive iGaming offering,” Swiss Casinos Group CEO Marc Baumann said in a statement.
Once the new gambling laws are implemented, operators of land-based casinos would be given a six-month period wherein they could request for the expansion of their licenses to include online gambling. If their request is approved, they would be allowed to launch their own online casino platform.
